Jaimie is my best friend from the States. We met in middle school back in Maryland, and became the best of friends. We were unseperable! We did all the things best friends do together. We were together at school, after school, we went shopping togehter, I slept over her house every weekend, shared secrets...everything. We even planned our future together and promised we would always be togehter. Jaimie was my sister!
Once we got to highschool, things started to change a little. We had a larger group of friends, different activities, and so on. Jaimie was easily influenced by our peers and so she started getting into some trouble. I tried my best helping her to stay out of trouble, but it did not help much. Her parents decided that it would be best to send her away to a boarding school. We were not happy about this decision at all, but we thought it was for the best.
It was tough when Jaimie went off to boarding school, I missed her so much. Even though I hung out with her older sister, I was not happy. I felt like I did not belong to that school or to that group of friends anymore. I felt that i didn´t even belong in the States anymore. I was depressed, so I decided to move to Paraguay. Jaimie and I were now even further away. We eventually lost contact, but I had never stopped thinking about her.
This year when I went back home, I searched for her online and found her! She is living in California, going to school and working. The choices she has made are very different from the choices I´ve made. We live very different lives. We are not near eachother, nor do we have the same plans. Besides all that, I miss her and I still consider her my best friend.
